Running has taught me this clearly.
Race day isn’t the time to get ready.
By then, the preparation has either happened… or it hasn’t.
The miles were already run.
The discipline was already built.
The early mornings already happened.
The race simply reveals it.
Leadership works the same way.
Too many people wait until:
-They get the title
-They get noticed
-They get asked
-They get the chance
…before deciding to operate at the next level.
But the people who are trusted with more usually do something different:
They prepare before they’re chosen.
They communicate well before they lead teams.
They solve problems before they’re asked.
They act responsibly before they have authority.
Because readiness isn’t built in the moment opportunity arrives.
It’s built long before that.
In quiet seasons.
In ordinary days.
In consistent habits.
And when the next step finally comes…
It doesn’t feel like luck.
It feels like preparation meeting opportunity.
