Monday Miles & Leadership – Put It In Writing

A text message is easy.

An email is convenient.
A handwritten note takes effort.
Maybe that’s why it matters.

Over the years, I’ve learned that one of the simplest ways to strengthen a relationship is to write a handwritten note.
Not because the message is longer.
Not because the handwriting is better.
Because it shows intention.
Someone took the time to stop what they were doing, pick up a pen, and write something specifically for you.

In a world of instant communication, effort stands out.

Running has taught me something similar.

The things that matter most usually aren’t the easiest things.
The extra mile.
The early morning run.
The workout when nobody is watching.
The value often comes from the effort itself.
Relationships work the same way.

A handwritten note says:
“I was thinking about you.”
“Thank you.”
“I appreciate what you did.”
“You matter.”

And those simple messages have a way of lasting longer than we realize.

I’ve built much of my career around two things:
– Communication.
– Relationships.

A handwritten note happens to strengthen both.

It won’t change every relationship.

But it might strengthen one.

And over time, those small investments compound.

One note.
One conversation.
One relationship at a time.
