This weekend I ran a half marathon.
My PR is 2:37:18.
Saturday’s result: 2:39:25.
Not a personal record.
But a race I’m proud of.
It was cold.
My training block wasn’t exactly what I wanted.
And it was the first race of the season.
Years ago I might have looked at the clock and focused only on what I didn’t achieve.
Running has taught me something different.
Not every race is a PR.
Some races are about momentum.
Showing up.
Testing your fitness.
Rebuilding rhythm.
Competing even when conditions aren’t perfect.
Leadership works the same way.
Not every quarter will break records.
Not every season will feel like peak performance.
But consistency matters.
The discipline to show up — even when preparation wasn’t perfect — builds momentum for what comes next.
Saturday wasn’t my fastest race.
But it was a strong step forward.
And in the long run…
Momentum beats perfection.
