I mowed my yard on December 22nd (yes, I mowed in December, LOL) and while I was mowing and listening to a book something dawned on me. Here it was December 22nd and my lawn was as green as it had ever been, stripes were very pronounced and prominant. It made me start to ponder why does my yard look this way?

My yard was green, vibrant and with great stripes because I put in the time to nurture it. I watered it. I cut it frequently. I fertilized it often. I trimmed it. I blew the grass clipping back onto it to provide nutrients. I took my time with it and invested not only time but also effort and energy on it and it has flourished.

I share this story with you because my lawn is like the relationships that we have with people. Our friends, our family, our wives, our husbands, our children. If you don’t put the same time, effort and energy forward with your relationships they will wilt, turn brown and even die. Don’t allow this to happen. Spend time, invest, cherish those around you that are important to you and they will appreciate you for it.
