One More Mile

One More Mile is where the Built for the Long Run journey begins.

The inspiration came from a moment every runner eventually experiences. You reach a point when your body is tired, your motivation is fading, and your mind starts giving you perfectly reasonable excuses to stop.

That’s when the goal gets smaller.

You don’t think about the ten miles still ahead. You don’t think about the finish line. You tell yourself:

Just one more mile.

I’ve learned that some of the most important moments in running happen when nobody is watching. It’s getting out the door when you don’t feel like running. Finishing the workout that isn’t going well. Taking another step when stopping would be easier.

But the more I ran, the more I realized that this lesson had very little to do with running.

Life can feel exactly the same way.

There are seasons when looking at everything ahead of us can become overwhelming. A difficult stretch at work. A relationship that needs attention. A goal that seems impossibly far away. A setback we didn’t expect. A season where progress feels almost nonexistent.

We don’t always need to know how we’re going to make it all the way to the finish line.

Sometimes we just need to take the next step.

Make the next phone call. Have the next conversation. Keep the next commitment. Show up for another day. Run one more mile.

That’s the inspiration behind One More Mile.

It’s not a song about being the fastest runner or never wanting to quit. It’s about recognizing that meaningful things are rarely accomplished all at once. They’re built through small decisions to continue—especially when continuing is hard.

Running just gives us a place to practice it.

Because eventually all of those individual miles add up to something we once weren’t sure we could do.

And life has a way of working the same way.

One more mile.
One more step.
One more promise kept.
