Built for the Long Run

My Story

Built for the Long Run

If you had told me twenty years ago that I’d one day run marathons, create music, write about leadership every week, serve my community as Mayor, and build a website around a phrase called Built for the Long Run, I probably would have laughed.

“None of those things were part of my plan.”

Life has a way of leading us down roads we never expected. Some seasons are filled with victories. Others challenge us, humble us, and remind us that growth rarely happens on the easy path.

Through every season, I’ve learned that the best things in life are rarely built overnight.

I’m Bradley Miller—a husband, father, sales leader, former Mayor of Foristell, Missouri, marathon runner, musician, and follower of Christ. While those titles describe different chapters of my life, they all point toward the same purpose: leaving people, organizations, and communities better than I found them.

At the center of my life is my family. My wife, Amber, has walked beside me through seasons of celebration, challenge, and restoration. Together we’ve built a life centered on faith, perseverance, and growth. I’m also incredibly proud to be the father of three amazing sons—Braden, Paxton, and Maverick. Each of them has shaped me in different ways, reminding me that leadership begins at home and that our greatest legacy is found in the lives we influence every day.

Professionally, I’ve spent my career building relationships and helping businesses grow. Today I serve as a Heavy-Duty Key Account Sales Manager with Gates Corporation, where success isn’t measured simply by sales numbers—it’s measured by trust, partnerships, and helping customers solve real problems. The same principles that build lasting business relationships also build lasting friendships and strong families.

Running has become one of life’s greatest teachers. Every mile reminds me that progress comes from consistency, not shortcuts. Training for marathons has shown me that discipline is built on ordinary days—the mornings when motivation is low, the weather isn’t perfect, and showing up is a choice. Those lessons have shaped the way I approach leadership, work, faith, and family.

My faith is the foundation beneath everything else. It shapes how I lead, how I serve, and how I try to love the people around me. I don’t claim to have all the answers, and I certainly don’t have life figured out. I’m simply trying to become a little more like Christ every day while encouraging other men to do the same.

This website exists because I believe experiences become more valuable when they’re shared. Here you’ll find lessons from leadership, endurance, faith, fatherhood, personal growth, and everyday life. Some stories come from the boardroom. Others come from the marathon course. Many come from the quiet moments in between, where the most meaningful lessons are often learned.

If something you read here encourages you to lead with more integrity, stay faithful through a difficult season, become a better husband or father, or simply keep moving forward when life gets hard, then this website has accomplished exactly what I hoped it would.

Because in the end, I believe we’re all building something.

The question isn’t whether we’ll leave a legacy.

The question is what kind of legacy we’ll leave.

And that’s what Built for the Long Run is all about.
